A former Inverness chef was jailed for a total of nine months at Inverness Sheriff Court after admitting breaching community payback orders imposed for a variety of offences.

Michael MacBeath, of Caledonian Road, also appeared for sentence on eight separate incidents involving a number of charges including six of threatening behaviour towards members of the public and shop staff.

The 36-year-old had also previously pleaded guilty to an assault, resisting arrest, and theft by shoplifting.

Defence solicitor advocate Clare Russell told Sheriff Sara Matheson, who did not hear a narration of the facts, her client was prepared for a custodial sentence as he knew there was no alternative.
