The family of a young woman tragically killed in a road accident said last night that their beautiful daughter would be forever in their hearts.

Hundreds of tributes have been paid to Chloe Morrison after she was killed in her home village of Drumnadrochit after being struck by a lorry as she walked on the pavement next to the busy A82 road.

The 26-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene near to Kerrowdown, on the A82, shortly after 1.10pm on Friday.

Miss Morrison was an early years practitioner at Holm Primary School nursery in Inverness.

Police and the Crown Office confirmed they were continuing to investigate the incident.

In a tribute, Miss Morrison’s family said she was the youngest daughter of Bobo and Karen Morrison and dearest sister to Jodi. They stated she would be sorely missed by all her beloved family and friends and was “forever in our hearts”.

Bryony Roberts (28), a neighbour of the family in Drumnadrochit, said that everyone in the village was devastated by Miss Morrison’s death, she said: “No-one can believe that this has happened. Chloe used to work at Urquhart Castle, and no- one has anything but nice things to say about her. She will be a huge loss to the community.”

Highland Council said pupils and staff at the 49-place Holm nursery were being offered support to come to terms with the loss of their teacher and colleague.

On social media, parents of pupils taught by Miss Morrison spoke of a warm, exceptional teacher who took time to listen and talk to her pupils. One mum Caitriona MacDonald said: “Absolutely devastated. My two [children] adored Miss Morrison at breakfast club. She will be sorely missed.”

Another parent, Gillian Gunn, said: “Chloe was my little boy’s key worker at nursery and was just brilliant with him. We will miss her so much.”

Mum Kerry MacDonald added: “Kind, caring and always had a warm welcome and friendly smile.”

Aird and Loch Ness councillor George Cruickshank has known the family for 50 years, and said his sympathies were with them. “This is a tragic loss that has devastated the whole community,” he added.

A Crown Office spokesman said the Procurator Fiscal has received a report in connection with the death.

“The investigation into the death, under the direction of Road Traffic Fatalities Investigation Unit is ongoing,” he added.

“The family will be kept updated in relation to any significant developments.”

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “No one has been charged at this time. A report has gone to the procurator fiscal and extensive inquiries continue. We are still appealing for any witnesses to come forward.”

Sergeant Ewan Calder from Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit said: “We would ask any motorists or members of the public who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have dash-cam footage to contact us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting incident number 1775 of October 25.
