A footbridge at Whin Park in Inverness has been closed for safety reasons.

Highland Council workers discovered issues during routine inspection.

A council spokesman said: "The bridge is deemed unsafe at the present time and has been closed until remedial works have been undertaken.

"The area has been cordoned off to the public and should not be used under any circumstances. As soon as a works schedule is known, we will update on plans to reopen.

"The bridge allows people to cross from the rugby pitches path over the hydro burn on to the islands."
