Airline Flybe has cancelled all flights after being placed into administration.

The firm once had a relatively significant presence in Inverness, operating several flights and being the main shirt sponsor of Caley Thistle.

However, the business ceased trading in March 2020 and was relaunched with a much smaller operation.

It included seasonal flights connecting Inverness and Belfast City.

Inverness-based travel experts Murray Travel has expressed sadness at the news.

A spokesman for Murray Travel said: "Unfortunately, trading conditions have not been favourable, and after less than a year, the company [Flybe] has unfortunately been placed into administration yet again.

"With immediate effect, all flights from and to the UK operated by Flybe have been cancelled and will not be rescheduled.

"If you are a passenger due to fly with Flybe today or in the future, please do not travel to the airporT unless you have arranged an alternative flight with another airline.

"For more advice, contact your travel provider, or head to flybe.com

"Our thoughts go out to the hard working crews and staff who today find their worlds turned upside down."
