EasyJet has cancelled this evening's flights between London Gatwick and Inverness.

The airline says it is due to air traffic control restrictions at London Gatwick airport caused by NATS air traffic control staffing shortages.

The affected flights are the London Gatwick to Inverness service which was due to arrive at 8.20pm and the flight which was scheduled to leave Inverness at 8.55pm.

Passengers are advised to contact the airline.

On its website, EasyJet states: "We’re sorry that your flight has been cancelled.

"This is due to air traffic control restrictions at London Gatwick airport caused by NATS air traffic control staffing shortages.

"The restrictions are imposed on all airlines which can result in delays and cancellations."

It adds: "The disruption to your flight is outside of our control and is considered to be an extraordinary circumstance."
