A flag featuring artwork by pupils from Inverness was displayed in the pageant in London to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

S1 art and design students at Inverness Royal Academy produced the art work as part of the River of Hope project run by the Thames Festival Trust.

The flag also incorporated the profile of a pupil who sadly passed away earlier this year.

The River of Hope project comprises heritage and education work, including the arts education projects, Rivers of the World and The Story of Water, delivered in partnership with the British Council.

This year, the work of project formed part of the jubilee celebrations to mark the Queen's 70 year reign.

The Inverness Royal Academy pupils took part in an art workshop in March with artist Izzy Thomson, based at the WASPS Inverness Creative Academy at Midmills.

She worked with pupils, helping them to create individual pieces of work which formed part of a collaborative artwork that she put together.

Schools were also asked to think of a local celebrity or someone with a connection to the school to be the profile on their design.

Inverness Royal Academy chose to include the profile of pupil Sarah Adams who passed away earlier this year.

The design was then transferred on to a silk flag which was paraded as part of Sunday's procession in London.

Inverness Royal Academy was one of six Highland schools involved in the project which had six key themes looking at the life and importance of rivers and their eco-systems.

The pupils at Inverness Royal Academy worked on the theme, The River of Life, in particular creating artworks inspired by the life cycle of fresh water pearl mussels.

The River of Hope is an international project and the academy has been partnered with Govt. Practicing GHSS, Township Lahore in Pakistan.
