ONE of the roads linking Fort George to the A96 is to close for several months, Highland Council has confirmed.

The C1005 Fort George to Muir of Balnagown road will be closed from midnight this Saturday until midnight on Thursday, September 30.

The council said that this closure is related to work involving Scottish Water.

A council spokesman said: "The closure is required to help protect the road from damage while facilitating the safe passage of the contractor’s vehicles and goods vehicles working on behalf of Scottish Water.

"Access will be maintained for emergency vehicles attending an emergency and vehicles employed to carry out the works. Cyclists and pedestrians requiring access may do so, but only at the discretion and by the instructions of the contractor.

"Alternative routes will be available for all other traffic affected by this closure."
