First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has called on people to examine their behaviour in the face of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

At her daily press briefing she said: "Life should not feel normal right now.

"If your life feels entirely normal ask if you are doing the right things or are putting yourself or others at risk."

She also said that the "advice" being issued by government should "not be considered optional".

"It should be seen instead as a set of rules to be followed," she said.

In the face of reports that a number of pubs across the country had ignored the message given to close, she said that the police would soon have powers to force them to close though she hoped use of those powers would not be necessary.

She said that those who had flouted the call had put peoples lives at risk.
