Skills Development Scotland (SDS) is offering its first ever national webinar in Gaelic to help parents and carers of pupils currently learning or wishing to study the language.

The virtual session on Wednesday, February 8 at 6:30pm will share information on Scotland’s career service as well as highlighting the benefits of studying Gaelic for future jobs.

Derek MacKenzie, Gaelic development officer with SDS, said: “This is the first time we have delivered an online event for Gaelic speakers across the whole of Scotland. Previous events have targeted specific local areas with a high percentage of Gaelic speakers.

“This session will give parents and carers of P7 to S3 pupils, right across the country, advice on the huge array of career opportunities that are available in Gaelic.

“There are key employment areas where Gaelic can be so beneficial, most notably in education, including childcare and early years; the arts and creative sectors; translation services and language development, and of course tourism and hospitality.”

People can join the online only session by registering here.

SDS is Scotland’s national skills body, with professionally qualified advisers working from its centres, community premises and in every state secondary school across Scotland.

People of all ages can get information and advice covering areas including jobs and apprenticeships, the local labour market, training courses and interview preparation.

Further career information and advice is available online at Scotland’s career website, myworldofwork.co.uk
