Residents of a fire-hit block of flats in Inverness are starting to be rehomed, according to the housing association which operated it.

The properties in Polvanie View were destroyed in a fierce blaze on March 31.

A man was later arrested and charged following a stand-off with police.

Caledonia Housing Association say that extensive work is ongoing to support the 11 families displaced by the fire.

Tim Calderbank, director of customer services, said: “We are continuing to support our tenants following the fire at our Polvanie View property.

“For those requiring it, temporary furnished accommodation has been secured.

“We are now working with Highland Council, other registered social landlords and reviewing our own property availability to identify and move residents to suitable longer-term accommodation while the block is being repaired for the residents’ return.”

The housing association has plans to restore the flats but previously warned residents that it may take up to 18 months for that to happen.
