A disqualified driver took a chance and drove a vehicle home after a late return from a job in Aberdeen.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that 25-year-old Charlie Clarke, of Sycamore Crescent, Inverness was spotted by police in Eastfield Way while they were on mobile patrol on the evening of February 9 last year.

Clarke admitted driving while disqualified and without insurance when he appeared before Sheriff David Sutherland.

Defending, Wllie Young told the court: "His work took him to Aberdeen and when he returned to Inverness in the early evening, he continued to work."

Mr Young added that his client had intended to get a lift home but "he took a chance. It was a serious error of judgement."

Clarke was fined a total of £940 and banned from driving for six months.
