A TEENAGER lost control of his vehicle on the A9 near Dalwhinnie and was involved in a collision in a lay-by.

Police and emergency services were called to the scene on September 14, 2019 and Mark Welch, who is now aged 19, was taken to hospital in Inverness.

A blood test revealed he was almost three times the legal limit with an alcohol reading of 131mcgs when the limit is 50mcgs.

Welch of Balvonie Terrace, Inverness, was fined £400 and banned from driving for 20 months. However, he can reduce his disqualification by five months if he successfully completes a drink-drive rehabilitation scheme that he must pay for.
