COUNCILLORS have rubber-stamped the final stage of work to renovate Inverness Town House.

Phase three will come at a cost of £2.3 million and include repairs, mortar re-pointing and stone replacement.

It is part of a massive revamp of the A-listed landmark in the city centre, costing £5.4 million overall, paid for by the Inverness common good fund.

The city of Inverness area committee has agreed to tender the latest work.

Inverness Provost Helen Carmichael said: “The final phase of the works is now in sight and I am confident we shall have a beautiful Town House, which will be an asset for Inverness and generations to come.”
