Wellbeing packs containing goodies such as chocolates and a book will be delivered to students in Inverness during the festive period.

The scheme has been launched by representatives of the Highlands and Islands Students’ Association (Hisa) in Inverness College UHI.

The aim is to bring comfort to local students after a challenging semester.

The packs will include a puzzle, mug, hot chocolate, chocolates, a wellbeing book, some stationery for the new semester, and a card from the Hisa team.

Similar initiatives are also being rolled out by Hisa across Perth College UHI, West Highland College UHI, and to the student nurses cohort.

Hisa Inverness vice president of activities and welfare, Julie Riviere, said: "The Hisa Inverness team is incredibly happy that we have been able to put together these wellbeing packs to support our students over the winter period.

"The holidays can be a challenging time for many and we hope that this initiative helps any students that may be struggling.

"The past year has not been easy for our students and, despite the fact that many of them are currently studying remotely, we want to ensure that they still feel connected to Hisa Inverness and Inverness College UHI as a whole.

"We hope these packs will boost our students' spirits at this time as they enjoy some well-deserved time off, and we look forward to welcoming them back in the new year."

Inverness College UHI director of student experience, Lindsay Snodgrass, said: "We are delighted that Hisa Inverness has been proactive in recognising some of the challenges students’ face, not only through these packs which will help spread some festive cheer but also the range of online activities that they have organised throughout the year to support students."
