A BROKEN down train caused disruption for some rail passengers heading between Inverness and Aberdeen this morning (Monday).

The 9.01am Inverness-Aberdeen service - which had been due to arrive at 11.22am - and the 11.56am Aberdeen-Inverness return have both been cancelled because of an on-board “fault”. The 11.56am service would have arrived back at the Highland capital by 2.07pm.

Affected passengers can use their ScotRail ticket or Smartcard to complete their journey via Stagecoach North bus services “at no extra cost”. However Dyce and Insch are not covered.
