A fatal accident inquiry is to be held into the death of a 20-month-old baby from Inverness.

Jessi Jean MacLennan died while battling a form of kidney cancer on November 25, 2019 at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.

Her parents Sara and Paul were left devastated by the sudden loss and embarked on various fundraising ventures for Ronald McDonald House and Cancer Research UK in the aftermath.

Now the Lord Advocate Dorothy Bain (KC) has announced that a fatal accident inquiry (FAI) is to be held.

In the official announcement it is stated that the Lord Advocate considers that the death was "sudden" and "in circumstances giving rise to serious public concern".

A preliminary hearing has been fixed for Monday January 16, 2023.

At the time of her passing Jessi was described as "a much loved daughter of Sara and Paul, special sister of Aiden and Lacey, also a dear grand-daughter, great-grand-daughter, niece and cousin".
