A PROPOSED extension to a hot food takeaway at an Inverness leisure complex has been given the go-ahead.

Planning officers using delegated powers have granted permission for the development at Fairways in Sir Walter Scott Drive.

The existing facilities include a refurbished restaurant, golf driving range and nine-hole golf course with pro shop and tuition.

The extension will enable the creation of a larger servery area with a dedicated cooking and preparation area.

Officers attached various conditions to the permission including the requirement for a ventilation/filtration system to ensure that there is no loss of amenity to nearby properties caused by odour or fumes from cooking operations.

Two disabled parking spaces at the site must also be replaced.

The decision report notes that there are no non-commercial land uses in the immediate area and the further extension of the takeaway is not considered to be incompatible with the current use of the site, or to detract from either individual or community residential amenity in the locale.

The report states: “The existing function of the building includes a bar/restaurant and accordingly this use of part of the building is already established for the wider site.

“The proposal is part of wider plans for redevelopment at Fairways and is considered to be acceptable in this context.”
