When looking to shout about your business, it is important to make sure that your marketing is done correctly. Having someone with expert knowledge, who knows how to package your business in the right way to attract clients is vital for success.

Jennifer Macdonald-Nethercott, owner of Strath Communications is an expert in getting businesses in front of the right customers, and she takes the task of marketing off busy people’s hands so that they can do what they love best.

Speaking about who and how she helps people in Scotland, Jennifer said: “I help busy entrepreneurs and business owners get in front of new and existing customers.

“I provide marketing support on a monthly or project basis as they don’t want or need a full-time marketing manager.

“Working with me every month means you have an outsourced marketing manager who is making sure your marketing is delivered consistently every month.

“Giving you more time to work on growing your business and developing new products and services.“

Jennifer explained more about what having an outsourced marketing manager means for your business, and how the skills she has can help your business grow.

“An outsourced marketing manager is like having all the expertise of a marketing director on your team”, she commented.

“I am a Chartered Marketer, so I keep my skills up to date to create your marketing strategy, plans, content ideas and social media management to deliver high-impact marketing for your business every month.

“It is the perfect solution for businesses who want to take their marketing to the next level but don’t have the internal resources or time to do it themselves.”

She is also passionate about sustainability and ensuring that she helps businesses to save the planet.

Discussing Strath Communications mission statement, Jennifer said: “I want to bring sustainable thinking into all the marketing I do for clients; to ensure that people’s businesses are future proof; and I help businesses by marketing effectively to their customers with maximum impact.”

One of Jennifer’s clients is Cairngorms Trust, whom she has been creating a sustainable and consistent marketing campaign for.

Trust manager, Nancy Chambers, praised Jennifers work, by saying: “Jennifer has been assisting the Cairngorms Trust with our marketing and social media. She has been fantastic to work with.

“Each time I have asked her to complete a project it has been done promptly and efficiently. “She is good at creating solutions for any challenges that occur and she keeps good records of the work she has done for us and is quickly able to find the KPI’s that we have been looking at and monitoring throughout the time she has with us each week.”

These good words about her work were also echoed by the sustainable hub, Green Hive.

“Jennifer worked in support of Green Hive as part of our Adapt & Thrive funding and as a result Green Hive has gone from strength to strength”, said Neil Mapes, chief operations manager at Green Hive.

“Jennifer’s work is high quality and professional yet personable and understood our work really well.”

Jennifer’s business is proving to be highly successful, as she is celebrating five years of Strath Communications in 2023. Creating the business has enabled her to live a life that suits her while simultaneously feeding her soul.

“Being able to celebrate five years in business shows that the leap I took leaving a full-time employed role was the right decision”, smiled Jennifer.

“My business has created the freedom to be there for my family, and work with amazing clients from a range of sectors from environmental charities, hospitality, and business support services.”

Alongside running her successful business, Jennifer is soon to become the president of BNI Tuath, a weekly networking group for business leaders in the Highlands.

Speaking about her new role, and how it will help her she said: “Having the role at BNI Tuath means that I can build on the ambassador roles that I hold with Woman’s Enterprise Scotland and Highland Tourism to raise my brand, build on my leadership skills and work with an incredible group of people to grow our economy in the Highlands, which I am very excited about.”

She now has her sights firmly placed on the next five years, and how she can help others in the region.

Speaking of her hopes for Strath Communications and herself, Jennifer exclaimed: “Over the next five years I want to continue to work with business owners in the area showing that the Highlands has a vibrant economy where we can enjoy prosperity and a quality of life for my family.

“I also want to inspire young girls and women that running your own business is a viable career path. Being a business owner in a rural area I am able to show that you can grow your own business, fulfilling the economic potential for yourself and your area.”
