ENTRIES are being invited for the Scottish Council for Development and Industry (SCDI) Annual Business Excellence Awards.

The event recognises the achievement of organisations across the Highlands and Islands over the past year.

Fraser Grieve, SCDI’s Highlands and Islands director, said: “We are fortunate to have some exceptional companies based in, and working across, the Highlands and Islands, and these awards are a way of recognising the talents and achievement of some of our greatest successes over the past year.

“Whether in international, marine, people development, research and innovation, environmental sustainability; or have an outstanding business ambassador, or achievement you wish to be recognised, there is an appropriate category for businesses to rightfully be recognised for their work and contribution to the region’s economy.

“I would encourage businesses and organisations of all shapes and sizes and from every sector to look at entering and being recognised for the good work they do.”

The awards will be presented at SCDI’s annual Highlands and Islands dinner on September 8, hosted by comedian and satirist Marcus Brigstocke.

Award categories include separate awards for excellence in international business, marine business, research and innovation, people development and environmental sustainability.

There is also a chairman’s award for outstanding business achievement up for grabs and will be presented to the company which best demonstrates having made a significant positive contribution to the regional economy.

An outstanding business ambassador gong will go to the business leader who can best demonstrate having made an outstanding personal difference to a firm and a significant positive contribution to the region’s economy.
