Eight projects to benefit from a share of more than £191,000 in grants from Inverness Common Good Fund ranging from support for the European Pipe Band Championships in June to floral displays and gull control measures

Inverness Councillors have approved eight projects that will benefit leisure, tourism and city centre businesses after successfully applying for more than £191,000 in grants from Inverness Common Good Fund.

Inverness BID has been awarded £107,445 for several projects in 2022 including:

  • Floral displays (£64,150) – to coordinate flowers
  • Operation Respect activities throughout Easter, Summer and Autumn (£10,795) – to increase security and support city centre policing
  • Inverness Gull Project (£12,000) – to limit the number of seagulls by disposing or destroying eggs
  • Inverness Community Safety Partnership (£9,700)
  • The Coach Friendly Project (£10,800) – to marshal tourist busses arriving in the city

Visit Inverness Loch Ness (VILN) were awarded £30,000 towards Inverness City Recovery Marketing to maximise the use of VILN’s expertise in attracting visitors to the city in what is a partnership with Inverness BID and Highland Council.

In support of Inverness hosting the European Pipe Band Championships in June this year, councillors approved £29,000 to LCC Live Event Services Ltd who will be organising the major competition which has been in abeyance due to the pandemic.

The Kings Golf Club Inverness was awarded £25,240 towards building a toilet block on the golf course. This new addition will help provide a new facility at the half-way stage of the 18-hole course.
