One of the kiosks in the revamped Eastgate Shopping Centre food zone is set for a name change before opening.

Shakes & Cakes – which specialises in "wow-factor desserts with an element of theatre and plenty of fun" such as ice creams, shakes and cakes – is expected to be renamed to avoid confusion with another Inverness business.

Shakes 'n' Cakes opened in Culduthel earlier this year and has contacted the operator of the city mall to request a name change after some people made a false connection between the separate entities.

It is among six outlets due to open next month as part of the shopping centre's Loch and Larder offering.

They are due to open next month after this month's original targeted opening was delayed due to technical reasons.

It follows an investment of more than £2 million with work ongoing since August.
