Christmas shopping can be knackering, and sometimes a wee well-earned break is needed to refuel and rest.

Revolution on Church Street offers the perfect place for just that, with plenty of space to wind down and enjoy an array of dishes that don't have a big price tag attached.

I took on the onerous task of going to sample a few dishes for you, and to check out what the customer experience is like at the popular bar (it's a hard life, I know!)

Myself and another colleague decided to visit on a Monday lunchtime, and were promptly greeted by a member of staff who let us choose where we wanted to sit.
It was nice and quiet for a weekday, and we decided to take one of their comfy booths and were asked what drinks we wanted. We both chose a soft drink, but Revolution has a range of cocktails, and alcoholic beverages if you are looking for something stronger.

The menus are on the table and include a wide range of options including vegan and gluten free choices, so it's a good choice if you have a few people with different dietary needs going along. They do a lunch and drink deal for £6.95 Monday to Friday until 5pm with various options to choose from.

However, we decided to go for five of Revolution's 'grazer' dishes to sample a bit more of the menu. You can get three for £15.50 or five for £24.50 and are able to choose from the likes of tempura prawns, jalapeno poppers, cajun chicken skewers, pea and mint falafel and breaded mushrooms.

We opted for cripsy mac 'n' cheese bites, halloumi fries, loaded nachos with beef chilli, crispy fried chicken and the hummus and flatbread.

Our order was taken promptly by the attentive and friendly waiter, however, you can choose to order from the Revolution app with the QR code on your table if you've had enough social interaction for the day!

The food came out swiftly and after taking a few obligatory pictures we tucked into our Monday lunchtime feast. The crispy mac 'n' cheese bites were a particular favourite for me, with cheesy goodness and pasta, in a deep fried crumb on top of an Italian tomato relish to cut the richness of it. Halloumi fries are also always a win for me, and they came with 'Rev's relish' which packed a punch.

The hummus came in two different flavours, with a delicate and light flatbread that made me feel somewhat healthier with the number of comfort food dishes on our table.

And what could go wrong with nachos and crispy fried chicken?! A perfect winter combination that provided warmth and nourishment on a cold day.

We decided to forgo dessert after the feast as otherwise we would have both fallen asleep in the office as soon as we got back to our desk! But I was very tempted by their clementine and chocolate tart that was on the menu, and I'll be going back for that very soon!

All in all the atmosphere was relaxed, the staff were attentive and the food hits the mark for the price! I'd recommend going to check it out over the festive season!
