A local photographer has created a photography festival in Drumnadrochit this weekend with well-being and the outdoors at its heart – and it has already sold out.

Margaret Soraya created this weekend's sold out photography event at Drumnadrochit.

Margaret Soraya's first-ever Creative Light event – a photography conference with a difference – brings well-known photographers from around the UK together for the event at Polmailly House this weekend.

Margaret said: "It has been a huge amount of work because I feel passionate about running an event up here as opposed to the usual Birmingham or London photography conferences!

"I'm hoping to launch next year's in a couple of weeks' time."

The photographers and artists Adrian Beasley, Marianthi Lainas, Mark Littlejohn, KJ Nasrul, Paul Sanders, Charlotte Bellamy, Lesley Lintott, Kim Grant, Bill Ward, James Kelly, Anna Deacon, Margaret Soraya, Justine Ritchie and Cassandra Baron will host workshops in the landscape, masterclasses and talks over the weekend.

The only bad news is that the event has already sold out!

But now Margaret, a photographer, artist and creative leader – who has not had any support or financial backing for Creative Light – will start planning for the event next year.

"It's been tough, I've tried to find help and support and I could probably have done with it," Margaret laughed.

"My experience in the photography world is good enough that I have known how to build something slightly different and how to launch and sell it, but it has been blood sweat and tears!

"It would be nice for next year to get a little bit of help. I suppose I'm just quite quiet andget on with things."

The weather is looking good for the event.

"We have checked the weather and all the autumnal colours are looking just about right," Margaret said. "It looks as if we'll be lucky!"
