Inverness drug-driver gets fine and ban after police smell cannabis

Police spotted a minor defect on a car being driven through Inverness and decided to carry out a late-night check.

But when officers stopped 37-year-old Daniel Pole's vehicle in Millburn Road at 11.15pm on November 30, 2021 they detected the smell of cannabis.

A subsequent test showed he was almost three times the safe limit for driving. His reading, was 5.3cgs when the limit is 2mcgs.

At Inverness Sheriff Court, Pole, of the city's High Street, admitted driving with drugs in his system.

Sheriff Sara Matheson fined him £198 and banned him from driving for a year.
