A freelance camera operator who travels widely with his job faces an uncertain future after he was disqualified from driving at Inverness Sheriff Court for driving with an unsafe level of cannabis in his system.

Jermain Blair, of High Street, Wordsley, Dudley appeared before Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald and admitted the offence which was committed on April 24, last year.

The court heard that police had received a report that a driver of a Mercedes van may be under the influence of drugs and stopped him on an unclassified road near Inverness Airport.

His reading was 5.2mcgs of a cannabis metabolyte when the safe driving limit is 2mcgs.

Defence agent Marc Dickson said: "He was working in this area and he socialised with friends. He was prevailed upon to partake of some cannabis. He needs his licence and his future is now uncertain."

The 36-year-old was fined £540 and banned from driving for a year.
