REPORTS of drug dealing and anti-social behaviour in the Merkinch area of Inverness saw police carry out a 'day of action', including stop-searches, in a bid to reassure residents.

Plain clothes and community beats officers were involved in the day of action, which saw them speak to members of the public and also carry out "relevant stop searches".

One male was also arrested on "outstanding warrants".

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Following recent reports of drug dealing and anti-social behaviour in the Merkinch area, plain clothes and community beats officers responded to this by conducting a day of action where members of the public were spoken to; relevant stop searches were carried out, resulting in a male being arrested on outstanding warrants.

"If you see any suspicious activity in your area, please get in touch with us via 101 or Crimestoppers."
