A 23-YEAR-OLD Inverness man avoided a jail sentence after he admitted dealing drugs from his home.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that police received intelligence that Ethan Jackson may be concerned in the supply of illicit substances from his home in Drumossie Road.

So officers obtained a search warrant on October 2, 2020, and executed it a week later on October 9.

A total of 535 grams of cannabis and £2325 in cash was recovered, Sheriff Sara Matheson was told.

Although the drugs had a minimum street value of £3000, fiscal depute Pauline Gair told the court that they “were worth more depending upon how they were sold”.

Also recovered were drugs paraphernalia like scales and a mobile phone, which contained messages indicating Jackson was a dealer.

He admitted being concerned in the supply of cannabis and was ordered to carry out 210 hours of unpaid community work after sentence had been deferred for a background report.

Sheriff Matheson told him that the threshold for prison had been met, but she decided there was an alternative due to “his age and lack of record”.
