A 39-year-old Inverness man initially co-operated with police when they stopped his vehicle after receiving a call about a possible drink-driver.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that Stephen Marello, of Stornoway Drive, gave a positive roadside breath test after admitting to officers that he was under the influence.

But fiscal depute Victoria Silver said that after he was taken to Burnett Road Police Station on November 11 last year, he failed to maintain a steady stream of breath for the next testing stage.

Marello admitted failing to provide a breath specimen and was ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work. He was also banned from driving for a year.
