An Inverness man has been banned from the roads after testing positive for cannabis.

Jason Hill, of the city's Greenwood Place, was pulled over by police on February 11 last year on the A9 road between the Longman roundabout and the Raigmore interchange.

He admitted a charge of driving while under the influence when he appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court.

Officers found he had seven microgrammes of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol per litre of blood - the legal driving limit being two microgrammes.

Hill (33) represented himself in court.

He said "It was a regretful decision on my part."

Sheriff Sara Matheson disqualified him from driving for 12 months and imposed a £120 fine with a £10 victim surcharge.
