Police officers were called to a report of a man lying unconscious in the middle of a street in the Merkinch area of Inverness.
But when they arrived on the evening of September 11, they found 38-year-old Jonathan Sinclair, of Gilbert Court, nearby in Thornbush Road and bleeding from a head injury.
However, Inverness Sheriff Court heard that Sinclair was arrested and became hostile towards them.
Sheriff Robert Frazer was told that an ambulance was called and as Sinclair sat in a police vehicle, he kicked out at an officer, striking him on the head.
Procurator fiscal Alison Young said that Sinclair was then taken to Accident and Emergency at Raigmore Hospital and on the way, he made multiple threats of violence towards police and later swore at a nurse.
On September 20, Mrs Young said that Sinclair was drunk when he boarded a bus in Culcabock Road, Inverness, became disruptive and was told to leave.
"He threatened to slash the driver and shouted and swore," she said "He was restrained to the floor to the alarm of other passengers."
Defending, Graham Mann told Sheriff Ian Cruickshank: "He didn't have any means to harm anyone on the bus.
"In relation to the other case, it was obvious who had been assaulted. He says he had been jumped by a group of young men and hit over the head with a metal bar."
Jailing Sinclair for a year backdated to September 29, Sheriff Robert Frazer told him: "You have a lengthy previous record for a number of analogous matters."
