A businesswoman from Inverness is in contention for two accolades at the Women’s Enterprise Scotland Awards.

Susan Cohen, who founded The Wee Book Company, has been shortlisted for adaptive business of the year and purpose led business of the year.

“I’m just so chuffed to be nominated for these awards but really, behind the scenes, we have a brilliant, tight-knit team,” she said.

“We have worked hard on our creative output and have formulated strategies to propel us through these tough economic times.

“We implemented changes in our ways of working pretty quickly and this has really borne fruit as we have seen substantial growth, despite the challenging conditions.

“We also took the decision during lockdown that because we felt that many of our audience and readership were really struggling, we would address this head-on. We now principally focus on the production of creative material aimed to support and encourage those who are finding these ever-changing times difficult. Our Wee Books have big voices.”

Women business leaders from across Scotland have been chosen as finalists for the Women’s Enterprise Scotland Awards, with 47 finalists across 10 categories. Its last awards took place in 2019 due to the pandemic. Winners will be named at an event in Glasgow on October 27.
