A BUSINESSWOMAN from Kiltarlity is celebrating a double success after scooping two gongs at the Green Parent magazine awards.

Mairi Davidson (40), who founded Ostara Skincare four years ago, won the awards for her organic baby lotion and her frankincense moisturiser.

Mrs Davidson admitted she was humbled to win the award, and revealed she had struggled to keep the news quiet until the official announcement.

She said: "I actually found out about the award two months ago so I had to keep it quiet! It was very difficult because I just wanted to shout it from the rooftops. I was so excited about it.

"It’s fantastic, and it’s also very humbling because I was shortlisted in a big section of about 200 others.

"To win two awards is fantastic. The organic baby lotion won a bronze award and the frankincense won silver.

"I will also be listed in the Green Beauty Bible.

"It’s taken a lot of blood, sweat and tears to get to this point but it’s been worth every bit of it.

"I have managed to help a lot of people. I am particularly pleased that the baby lotion won an award because I have had so many people come to me about it.

"I just want to thank all my customers and everyone who encouraged me and gave me the confidence to put my name forward for the green parent awards.

"Everything has been so positive, and there has been a great response from my friends and customers as well."

Mrs Davidson says her next goal is to increase her products’ availability in the Highlands, and she hopes to see more salons and shops stocking her wares in the coming months.

She said: "The next step is to increase the amount of my products being sold in salons.

"You can already buy them in some shops in Inverness, Beauly and Ullapool but I want to increase that number.

"It’s about increasing the profile of the business and building on that success.

"Facebook has been a massive help to me because it has allowed me to advertise.

"Now I want to see more places selling my products."
