Local people have just a few more days to have their say in the first stage of the 2022 Inverness City Centre Business Awards.

Nominations for the awards – set to be held for the first time since 2019 – opened last week and close Friday, September 2.

Many people have already nominated their favourite city centre shops, pubs, restaurants and service providers.

The awards are a real chance to show appreciation for the businesses you feel go the extra mile to offer great service – especially after what we can all agree has been a challenging couple of years!

Inverness BID director Lorraine Bremner McBride is delighted with the response to the nominations call so far.

“The number of entries and the interest from city centre users so far has been just fantastic,” she said.

“It has been quite overwhelming and really shows just how much people appreciate the hard work and effort they can see city centre businesses put in to offer a great experience for shoppers, diners and other service users, clients and customers.

“It’s clear by the response so far that the people of Inverness love local and to anyone who hasn’t submitted their nominations yet there is still time and your help in helping us to give recognition to those you feel are ‘getting it right’ is very much appreciated.”

Independent fashion retailer Esther Nelson, of Ginger in the Victorian Market, said: “We really missed the Business Awards when they had to be cancelled due to the pandemic. It gives us such a boost to know that people appreciate and enjoy what you do.

“It is such a great, well organised night and will lift everyone’s spirits again.”

Sandie Craig, of Oil & Vinegar in Union Street, said: “It is great to be recognised by our customers and we were delighted to be nominated in the past with lots of other businesses in Inverness.

“We look forward to another successful event celebrating the Inverness city centre businesses.”

The nominations submitted at this stage of the process will create the shortlists across the awards’ 13 categories, which will then go to a further public vote before this year’s awards ceremony, due to be held on Tuesday, November 1.

Nominations can be completed online at Survey Monkey or can be posted in the Victorian Market and Eastgate Shopping Centre postboxes.

Forms can also be sent to: Inverness City Centre BID Business Awards, c/o Inverness Courier, Suite 3.04 Moray House, 16-18 Bank Street, Inverness, IV1 1QY.

The shortlist will be unveiled in the Inverness Courier on Friday, September 16.
