Dolphin tale by Ardersier duo set to delight children
A heart-warming tale about the adventures of a young dolphin has been produced in a children’s book by a local musician in collaboration with an Ardersier artist.
George Livingstone of the musical duo Corrallach turned his hand to his first book and teamed up with Donald Jack who is a painter and teacher of art design.
Both are members of Ardersier Folk Club.
George is retired after a career working with young people and in the adult education sector. He has written many songs before, with the sea featuring large in the lyrics.
But “Dotty The Daring Dolphin” is his first book.
“I suppose it was to some extent inspired by our Moray Firth colony of dolphins,” George said. “The Chanonry Point lighthouse, which you can see across the firth from Ardersier and is a favourite viewing point for the dolphins, features on the front cover.
“It’s one of several lovely illustrations by Donald and we hope the book will give enjoyment to children and parents who enjoy reading stories to their children.”
The book tells the tale of the dolphin calf Dotty who swims away from her mum and gets stranded on the beach. Happily she is rescued and helped back into the water to be reuinted with her mum.
“As well as an enjoyable read for the children, hopefully it provides some lessons about keeping safe,” George said.
The books priced £5 can be purchased directly from George and Donald.
