It’s almost that time of year again as the Highland Business Women Awards are making a return.

Sponsored by Safekab, the annual ceremony is an opportunity to celebrate females who are excelling in their sectors and making a difference in their community and local economy.

With nine awards up for grabs, there is certainly something for everyone who wants to take part.

A brand-new category at this year’s ceremony is the Highland Sustainable Enterprise Award which is being sponsored by Serimax.

This award is open to both members and non-members and judges will look at businesses and organisations that are displaying exceptional efforts in their sustainability agenda. Entrants will show great passion, creativity and drive in delivering on their company’s sustainability efforts.

A spokesperson for Serimax said: “Through our sponsorship of the Highland Sustainable Enterprise Award, Serimax reaffirms its commitment to shaping a sustainable future.

“As a forward-thinking company, we are actively expanding beyond traditional oil and gas welding projects. Our focus now extends to utility pipeline installations in the renewables sector, encompassing wind, hydrogen, nuclear, and carbon capture initiatives!”

A returning category to this year’s awards is the Woman of Inspiration category which is being sponsored by Springfield. This award is by nomination only and is for women who have shown an exemplary contribution to business in the Highlands and inspire, support and mentor others.

This award was given to Isobel Grigor of the Calman Trust in 2023. On winning the award she said: "The role that Highland Business Women plays in encouraging and supporting women across Highland to turn their vision into reality is so very important, and I felt honoured to receive the award, especially coming as it does from women who will have faced similar challenges over the years.

“It was wonderful to hear how each of those recognised on the night is bringing positive change to their own community. They inspire great hope for the future.”

Springfield chief executive, Innes Smith, said: “Across the Springfield Group, we are proud to create a culture where everyone can thrive and are delighted to support these awards to celebrate women in business across the Highlands.

“We benefit hugely from the contribution of inspiring women who enable us to deliver high quality homes for our customers every day. This is why we are sponsoring the Woman of Inspiration category, and we wish all those taking part the best of luck.”

The Highland Business Women Awards will take place on Thursday, August 22 at the Drumossie Hotel.
