A charity located in Dingwall is taking steps to encourage well-wishers to support its sponsored walk at the beginning of next month.

Sight Action, the charity making life better for blind and partially sighted people, is holding its annual sponsored walk on Saturday, June 3.

The event – a big fundraiser for the organisation – will see clients and volunteers come together to participate in a choice of three walks.

Those taking part can either stride out for a leisurely one-mile jaunt, take in five miles or opt for the 10-mile route.

The walks all start and finish at Sight Action’s base at Robertson House, Greenhill Street, Dingwall.

Gillian Mitchell, executive manager at the charity, said: “This is a great opportunity to take a walk in the stunning countryside around Dingwall, chat to friends and family, and raise money towards supporting 2500 adults and children in the Highlands and the Western Isles.”

The walk, sponsored by Ffordes Photographic based in Beauly, is open to all ages with registration taking place at 10.30am.

For a sponsor form, or for more details, contact Sight Action on 01463 233663 or email volunteer.coordinator@highlandsensory.org.uk

What does Sight Action do?

Sight Action is contracted by the NHS Highland, NHS Western Isles and the Highland and Western Isles Councils to provide patient support and rehabilitation to blind and visually impaired adults and children.

It can help visually impaired people cope safely and confidently around the home with improved independent living skills.

It has a range of equipment available in its resource centre to purchase. Itan also provide a wide range of advice and we can provide emotional support. Sight Action complements the clinical care provided by health service colleagues. Its staff help patients attending the eye clinic to fully understand their visual impairment and, if necessary, can liaise with the medical team to clarify areas of concern.

Anyone with a visual impairment can access its services or a family member or health professional can refer you.
