Eighty new homes could be built in Inverness if the developer gets planning permission.

Kirkwood Homes has submitted plans to Highland Council for the construction of a range of house types on land just south of the MacDonald Drumossie Hotel in the south of the city.

A quarter of the homes would be affordable and if the application is approved later this year work is expected to begin early next year.

The submission follows the completion of a 12-week consultation programme including two rounds of online consultation, where the public was able to engage directly with the project team.

An in-person consultation was also held at the MacDonald Drumossie Hotel in May, providing the opportunity for members of the public to view the proposals and speak to those leading the project.

Allan Rae, land director at Kirkwood Homes, said: “I am pleased that we have now reached the stage of submitting a planning application to the Highland Council for our proposed development at Drumossie.

“Throughout the consultation, we received very helpful feedback from members of the local community, and I would like to express my thanks to those who took the time to speak with us.

“That feedback, alongside the various technical studies, has importantly helped shape the final application.”
