The work is being carried out by Bonnybridge-based Central Demolition and is set to finish in July.
Chelsea Tulloch, from Central Demolition, said the project was on track after the initial internal sweep.
“The first stage was soft stripping when we emptied internal furnishings which were left behind, like desks and chairs, and donated them to local charities and businesses,” she said.
The building, which dates back to the 1950s, has been vacant since the new campus opened in 2015. The 4.5-acre site sits next to the city’s new purpose-built justice centre, which is going up rapidly.
Highland Council has earmarked the college site for mixed-use development.
