A delivery driver lost his job when police charged him with a drink-driving related offence.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that officers found 43-year-old Gavin Rearie of Scorguie Drive, Inverness, in his car across the central kerb in Millburn Road. He admitted being drunk in charge of the vehicle.

The court heard a breath test on April 18, 2021 revealed he was twice the legal limit with a reading of 45mcgs of alcohol when the limit is 22mcgs.

Sheriff Ian Cruickshank fined Rearie £500 and banned him from driving for six months under the totting up procedure.

He imposed 10 penalty points on Rearie’s licence which was already endorsed with three. It took Rearie above the 12 points threshold.
