Drivers on the A82 south of Drumnadrochit may experience delays after a landslide caused disruption on the road earlier today.

Temporary traffic lights have now been put in place after mud and debris fell from an adjacent slope to the northbound lane at Bunloit.

Police Scotland were called at 12.45pm today, with the road being partially blocked for several hours.

A spokesperson for BEAR Scotland, who manage the road, said: “A small amount of mud and debris has reached one lane of the A82 at Bunloit, around three miles south of Drumnadrochit, from the adjacent slope above the road earlier this afternoon.

“Our Incident Response team attended and cleared some of the debris including some small tree branches from the road, with temporary traffic lights installed to ensure traffic can still safely pass.

“A geotechnical inspection is set to take place tomorrow (Wednesday) to safely assess the hillside, and in the meantime the traffic lights will remain in place as a precaution until the slope has been fully inspected.

“Motorists are encouraged to check Traffic Scotland for the latest travel updates.”
