A DEATH notice for Adam Mitchell appears in today’s Inverness Courier, placed by the family mourning the passing of their “darling son.”

Also paying tribute to Adam as a “Grandson, nephew, cousin and friend to many” the notice extends an invitation to friends and family to attend a “celebration of his life”, with details to follow.

“In honour of Adam we wish all who attend to wear Band Shirts,” it reads.

“Dig them out from the back of your wardrobe and wear them with pride as he did.”

It follows news earlier this week that a body had been found in the sea off Aberdeenshire and that missing Inverness teenager Adam Mitchell’s family had been informed. Police confirmed this morning that the body was that of Mr Mitchell.

Adam Mitchell (18) went missing on November 9 after a day out in Inverness, and was last seen on CCTV on Longman Road at about 1am on November 10.

Police carried out searches around the Longman industrial estate, handing out appeal posters to businesses and encouraging them to check outbuildings and surrounding areas.

The RNLI and Inverness Coastguard had also been involved in searches of the water.

In a statement issued by his family they described Adam as a “gentle fun-loving young man” who loved heavy metal music.

“He constantly wore his cut-off denim jacket that was decorated with patches of his favourite bands. It was his pride and joy,” they said.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Our thoughts are with Adam's family at this very difficult time.

"We would like to thank all partner agencies, local businesses and members of the public who assisted with the search for Adam."
