Unexplained death of woman (66) near Loch Ness leads to arrest of man

A MAN has been arrested by police in connection with the death of a 66-year-old woman in an Inverness-shire glen near Loch Ness.
The arrest of the man aged 33, came after officers were called to an address at Culnakirk, near Drumnadrochit, at 3.40pm on Monday, and a considerable police investigation presence remained at the scene today.
The woman's death is being treated as unexplained as officers await the results of a post-mortem examination being conducted at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness.
Police in forensic suits and police vehicles could today be seen at the entrance to a lane at Culnakirk, which is on a steep road leading out of Glen Urquhart near the village of Drumnadrochit.
Detective Chief Inspector Maggie Miller said: “A 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a 66-year-old woman in Culnakirk, by Drumnadrochit.
“The death is being treated as unexplained, pending the results of a post-mortem, and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
“There remains a police presence in the area as officers carry out further inquiries and anyone with information or concerns is urged to speak to these officers or call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 1952 of December 7.”
