A DRUG dealer who has already served a two-year jail term has been jailed again after admitting being concerned in the supply of cannabis resin.

Acting on information received, police were sent to Wyvis Place, Inverness to carry out a search at the home of 46-year-old William Blackwood.

Depute fiscal Niall Macdonald told Inverness Sheriff Court that Blackwood co-operated with the search, pointing officers towards a shed where they recovered 497 grams of cannabis resin.

The fiscal said the drugs were found in plastic bags and Blackwood made admissions to part-funding his own habit by selling the drug to others.

Sentence had been deferred for reports.

Solicitor Graham Mann said Blackwood had drug issues and was on a methadone treatment programme.

But he added: “He’s not an individual who has made any tremendous commercial gain from drugs.”

Sheriff David Sutherland, however, told Blackwood: “This is yet another occasion you are concerned in the supply of drugs.”

He noted he had served a two-year jail term and, although that sentence was of some vintage, he had another conviction in 2017.

“I don’t consider, having heard the report, I can deal with this other than by a custodial sentence,” he said.

He jailed Blackwood for six months and ordered forfeiture of £830 which was recovered with the drugs.
