Deacon Blue and Sugababes to headline Belladrum 2024

The first wave of acts have been named for the 20th anniversary celebrations of Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival.

Deacon Blue will be making a highly anticipated return to the music festival after their last headlining performance in 2011. The popular band last performed in Inverness in December 2021.

Formed in 1985 in Glasgow, the band's core members include Ricky Ross (vocals), Lorraine McIntosh (vocals), James Prime (keyboards) and Dougie Vipond (drums). They are set to deliver some of the most memorable singalong moments of the weekend, drawing from their extensive back catalogue of hits, which includes classics such as Real Gone Kid, Fergus Sings the Blues and Chocolate Girl.

Chart-topping sensations Sugababes have also been named as headliners for the entertainment extravaganza. The original line-up of Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy will perform their huge hits including Overload, Push the Button, Round Round, About you Now and recent single When the Rain Comes when they take to the stage on Thursday, July 25.

The festival, near Beauly, runs from July 25-27 and the bill also include singer-songwriter Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Edinburgh’s Callum Beattie, Teenage Fanclub, Lucy Spraggan and a band who feel like part of the Bella fabric: Colonel Mustard & The Dijon Five.

Bill Bailey will become the first comedian to perform on the main stage, his eccentric style of comedy has made him renowned as an internationally acclaimed stand-up and his winning display on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing has brought him to a huge new audience.

Also performing over the weekend are folk band Talisk, Torridon, The Laurettes and Rhythmnreel.

To celebrate the festival's theme of Love, American rock band Love featuring Johnny Echols will perform songs a back catalogue including tracks from their third album Forever Changes, widely regarded as one of the best albums of the 1960s.

Also keeping in the Love theme the late-night slots on the main stage will include, '70s inspired disco show Brutus Gold’s Love Train, and what is set to be a mass singalong of some of the best love songs every written with The Counterfeit Beatles.

Festival producer Dougie Brown said: "We are delighted to announce the initial line-up of acts set to join Belladrum as we celebrate our 20th anniversary. Over the years Bella has grown and evolved while still maintaining the unique and magically qualities that make it such a special festival. 2024 will see us welcome back some firm favourites from over the years alongside some exciting new names and we will make sure to celebrate this milestone in style!"
