An Inverness salon is offering free haircuts to homeless people and low income families this weekend.

Those in need can take advantage of the offer tomorrow at The Loft Inverness in Baron Taylor’s Street.

Allan Mackenzie, the salon’s managing director, said: “Our free haircut initiative is something we do annually at Christmas.

“This is our fourth year running.

“The initiative was founded on the belief that, although we are a luxury industry, every person should have access to a haircut regardless of their situation and we would like to do what we can to help those in need.

“Every year we see more and more people coming along as things get tougher for everyone – and due to the pandemic we expect an even bigger turn out than before.”

Mr Mackenzie added that, every year, the salon is overwhelmed by the support it receives for the initiative – including other stylists coming in to lend a hand and members of the public donating teas and coffees for people attending.

“We want everyone thinking of coming along to know that The Loft is, and always will be, a safe and judgment free environment they can come along too for a haircut, coffee and a good laugh,” he said.
