Pupils from a Nairnshire school were raised close to £400 as they set up a pop up charity shop for a day.

Students in P2 at Croy Primary School turned their classroom into a shop as they learned about the importance of charities in our communities.

Class teacher Sonya Morrison said: "The children learned about different charities, debated with their peers and voted for proceeds to go to the Scottish SPCA. The children also brought in their own merchandise to sell, in the form of unwanted items from home.

"Parents and pupils were invited to come along to our classroom in November to buy things from the shop or to make a donation. The support was fantastic, and it really was a team effort. By the end of the day the children managed to raise a truly astounding £387.42.

"This was a fantastic opportunity for P2 to learn about what charity means in the real world, whilst raising money for a worthwhile cause."

The money will go to SSPCA, with pupils presenting the cheque to senior inspector Gill MacGregor to support the charity.
