AN INVERNESS community group will be running the first edition of a new initiative to encourage sharing and promote circular economy.

Organised by Crown Connects in collaboration with the Highland Community Waste Partnership, the Jumble Trail event will run on Sunday, September 25 from 1pm to 4pm and will see stalls from members of the community who will be selling items from their homes.

Households in the Crown Hill district are being invited to be outdoor stall holders for the day, with stall bookings closing just before the start of the event at 1pm on the Sunday. .

Crown Connects trustee, Julia Dall, said: "We are very excited to be hosting a Jumble Trail in partnership with Velocity and the Highland Community Waste Partnership - the first event of its kind in Inverness!

"Anyone living within the designated area can have a "stall" outside their home – perhaps they need to have a clear out or have items that are too good to be thrown away which could be used by someone else.

"The idea is to encourage people to reduce, reuse and recycle by selling, swapping and sharing items locally, but equally we hope it will be an event to foster connections between neighbours."

Crown Connects was formed during the first lockdown of Covid-19, initially as an emergency response group.

Since then, it has grown into an active community charity, bringing in initiatives such as the community cupboard which helps to reduce food waste, and the orchard project which enabled us to buy and distribute 100 fruit trees to be planted locally.

Items to be sold on the day could include clothes, bric a brac, plants, crafts, accessories, toys, baby goods, shoes, furniture, ornaments, photo frames, jewellery, books, CDs and DVDs.

The charity recently completed a creative consultation event where they invited people to tell them what they want from the area they live in, and they plan to keep listening in this way and trying out new initiatives to bring life to the community.

If you are interested to host a stall outside your home, you can visit the event's page on Eventbrite or the dedicated Facebook event.
