AROUND 3000 people turned out to learn more about the fire service at a city open day.
Visitors got to see inside fire engines, play target practice with the hoses and enjoy a host of other fun-filled activities.
Firefighters also staged demonstrations throughout the day at the Harbour Road station, including a road traffic collision response.
The day raised more than £7000 from donations which will be split between fire service charities and local good causes nominated by staff.
Local senior officer John MacDonald said, "We were completely overwhelmed by the number of people who came along to support our open day. It was fantastic to be able to welcome so many members of the local community into the station and I hope everyone enjoyed the day.
"On behalf of everyone at the fire service, I would like to thank all those individuals and businesses who supported the event, along with all the members of the public who came along on the day.
"We are delighted to have raised so much money, all of which will go to extremely worthwhile causes."
