ROAD smashes on the A9 and A96 were causing disruption to commuters this morning.
A crash involving "multiple vehicles" closed the A9 southbound on the Black Isle near the Munlochy junction shortly before 9am.
"Emergency services are in attendance and there is not thought to be any life threatening injuries," said a police spokeswoman. "Drivers will face delays and are encouraged to avoid the area and use alternatives routes if possible until recovery is complete."
The A96, meanwhile, was closed near Nairn after a crash shortly before 8am.
Traffic Scotland has warned motorists to expect delays. A local diversion is in place.
