And Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) confirmed they attended the scene at 5.14pm.

Traffic Scotland went on X shortly after 6pm to say: "The carriageway on the A9 in Evanton is now closed in both directions due to a collision."

It is understood diversions were set up through Evanton.

SFRS said that two units from Dingwall were called out just after 5pm but did not have to use any equipment, but assisted the police in making the area safe.

SFRS confirmed that two cars were involved in the collision near the A9 junction with the B817 to Evanton.

The units were recalled at 6.7pm
